Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 6) users
This browser should work o.k. on default settings. If not... To change to Unicode -- Go to: Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Browsing: (checkmark the box)---> "Always send URL's as UTF-8 (requires restart) For some eastern languages, you may also want to change to 'right-to-left' encoding, though it should not be necessary. To do this -- Go to: View - encoding - right to left document. Example on selecting a font: For Eastern Armenian -- Go to: Tools - Internet Options - Fonts - Language Script: Armenian, select "Titus Cyberbit Basic" (the other option being Sylfaen). |

Mozilla Firefox (version 1.0.4) users
To change to Unicode -- ( first go the target page ) -- then Go to: View - Character encoding - Unicode (UTF-8) The browser should automatically refresh (this may be a temporary change - it may reset when you change pages) also, you can Go to: Tools - Options - Languages - Character encoding - default character encoding: Unicode (UTF-8) A tip-off for an incorrectly encoded page is usually a bit of gibberish in the top left corner. |

Other browsers and versions should have a similar settings control feature.
Some languages such as Fulfulde which uses Ajamiya .TTF font, may require you to install a font file. Myanmar (Burmese) requires the PadaukOT unicode font. These fonts are largely free and available for download from a number of sites. Vietnamese, Azeri and Burmese display better with Firefox (or Opera). WinXP and others may need to load the Language Pack for some languages (Chinese, Korean). For WinXP go to Settings, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages, Supplemental Language Support (checkmark the appropriate box(es) - you will need your XP installation disk to add the languages). |
