WAR, MAN OF

('ish milchamah): "Yahweh is a man of war: Yahweh is his name" (Ex 15:3). In early Israel the character of Yahweh as the war-God forms a prominent feature in the conception of God (Nu 10:35; 21:14; Jos 5:13; 10:11; Jud 5:4,13,20,23,31, etc.).
