MADE MANIFEST

To be made visible; to make clear.

But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was MADE MANIFEST unto them that asked not after me. But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. (Romans 10:20-21)


MAIMED

Crippled, or deprived of some member.

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, MAIMED, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them. (Matthew 15:30)


MALEFACTOR

Evil-doer.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? They answered and said unto him, If he were not a MALEFACTOR, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. (John 18:28-30)


MALICE

Ill-will; badness.

Wherefore laying aside all MALICE, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. (1 Peter 2:1-2)


MALLOWS

A type of plant, or herb.

For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste. Who cut up MALLOWS by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat. (Job 30:3-4)


MAMMON

Earthly goods; property; riches.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and MAMMON. (Matthew 6:24)


MANDRAKE

Some lovely fruit or flower.

And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found MANDRAKES in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's MANDRAKES. (Genesis 30:14)


MANIFEST

To make openly known; appear.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was MANIFEST in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1 Timothy 3:16)


MANIFOLD MORE

Many times more.

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, who shall not receive MANIFOLD MORE in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. (Luke 18:29-30)


MANSION

Abiding place.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many MANSIONS: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3)


MANTLE

Garment; covering.

Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him. And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his MANTLE, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. (Job 2:11-12)


MARISHES

Marshes; ponds.

And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: But the miry places thereof and the MARISHES thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. (Ezekiel 47:9,11)


MARTYR

A witness.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the MARTYRS of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. (Revelation 17:6)


MASTERIES, STRIVE FOR

To compete; contend.

And if a man also STRIVE FOR MASTERIES, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. (2 Timothy 2:5)


MATRIX

Womb.

And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, that thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the MATRIX, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD'S. (Exodus 13:11-12)


MATTOCK

Hoe; spade; agricultural tool.

And on all hills that shall be digged with the MATTOCK, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle. (Isaiah 7:25)


MAUL

A club or mallet.

A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a MAUL, and a sword, and a sharp arrow. (Proverbs 25:18)


MAZZAROTH

Stars or planets.

Canst thou bring forth MAZZAROTH in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? (Job 38:32)


MEAN

Common.

And the MEAN man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. (Isaiah 5:15-16)


MEAN

Obscure; insignificant.

But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no MEAN city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people. (Acts 21:39)


MEAT

Food.

And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his MEAT was locusts and wild honey. (Matthew 3:4)


MEDIATOR

One who intervenes between two parties.

For there is one God, and one MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5)


MEEK

Gentle; tender; free from pride.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the MEEK: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:3-5)


MEET

Agreeable; fit; proper.

The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not MEET to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. (Mark 7:26-27)


MENSTEALERS

Kidnapper.

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for MENSTEALERS, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine. MESS

Portion; gift.

And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another. And he took and sent MESSES unto them from before him: but Benjamin's MESS was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him. (Genesis 43:33-34)


MESSIAS

Anointed One.

The woman saith unto him, I know that MESSIAS cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. (John 4:25-26)


METE

To measure; to deal out.

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye METE, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. (Mark 4:24)


METEYARD

Measures of length.

Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in METEYARD, in weight, or in measure. Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. (Leviticus 19:35-36)


MILCH

Giving suck; milking.

And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother; Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, thirty MILCH camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals. (Genesis 32:13-15)


MILLET

A grain used for breads and cereals.

Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and MILLET, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof. (Ezekiel 4:9)


MINCING

Taking short, quick steps; tripping.

Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and MINCING as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet. (Isaiah 3:16)


MINGLE

To mix.

Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to MINGLE strong drink. (Isaiah 5:22)


MINISH

To be made few; diminished.

Again, they are MINISHED and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow. He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. (Psalm 107:39-40)


MINISTER

Servants.

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but MINISTERS by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:5-6)


MINISTRATION

Service.

But if the MINISTRATION of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: how shall not the MINISTRATION of the spirit be rather glorious? (2 Corinthians 3:7-8)


MIRE

Mud; clay-like soil.

He hath cast me into the MIRE, and I am become like dust and ashes. (Job 30:19)


MIRTH

Gladness; rejoicing.

For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us MIRTH, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. (Psalm 137:3)


MIRY

Muddy.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the MIRY clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. (Psalm 40:1-2)


MITE

A Jewish coin.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two MITES, which make a farthing. (Mark 12:41-42)


MITRE

Turban.

And I said, Let them set a fair MITRE upon his head. So they set a fair MITRE upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by. (Zechariah 3:5)


MOLLIFY

To be softened; to be tender.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither MOLLIFIED with ointment. (Isaiah 1:6)


MORROW

Next day; tomorrow.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the MORROW: for the MORROW shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:33-34)


MORTIFY

To put to death; to take away.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do MORTIFY the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (Romans 8:13)


MOTE

A small dry particle.

And why beholdest thou the MOTE that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the MOTE out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? (Matthew 7:3-4)


MUFFLER

An ornament worn by women.

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, the chains, and the bracelets, and the MUFFLERS. (Isaiah 3:18-19)


MUNITION

Fortress; stronghold.

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her MUNITION, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. (Isaiah 29:7)


MURRAIN

Pestilence; plague.

For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still, Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous MURRAIN. (Exodus 9:2-3)


MUSTER

To number; inspect; to assemble troops.

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts MUSTERETH the host of the battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. (Isaiah 13:4-5)
