Updates:
Dec 26-31, 2007    June 7, 2007    June 12-15, 2006    May 11-16, 2006

The following is for informational purposes only and NOT necessarily a recommendation, in no particular order :

Firefox extensions discussed on this page:
Nandu, Mimulus , Highlighter, Codetch, Split Browser, Repagination, NextPlease.

Also, a special mention of Mozilla Suite Composer, aka, SeaMonkey also Nvu and KompoZer. These four are not firefox extensions.

If you would like to add your own notes to the bible pages, here's an easy way to do it.
Except as noted, tested with Firefox version 1.5.0.3. All freeware at time of review:

An extension called Nandu. It's a WYSIWYG html editor for local files.
As of this date, I found it at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1143/
Current version is 0.6.

Once you install it (remember to close & reopen firefox first), all you do is right-click "edit this page" and you're off!
You can also find it under the firefox "Edit-Nandu".
Here's how it looks while editing a page:

Notice at the bottom, the "Normal Mode" tab is engaged.
You will also notice my notes are indented in purple (and gray), so as to differentiate it from the bible text.
To preview your edits, select the "Preview" tab at the bottom. Here's how it looks:

After you are happy with the results, just click "save" (floppy icon in "Normal Mode") to save it to your computer.
That's it! Nothing could be simpler.

Another good extension is - Mimulus.
Current version is 1.0-r233
Download and install as usual for firefox. As of Dec 26, 2007 it was on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3204
For the latest version (1.0-r332) download and complete instructions:
http://inamidst.com/mimulus/
Tested with Firefox version 2.0.0.11
This extension is an XHTML editor that works in the browser, letting you type directly into the document and save it on your computer.
Click the grey "m" icon to the right of the status bar at the bottom of the browser to turn Mimulus on. It turns the icon green to indicate that Mimulus is now active.
Type away! Right click the green icon to save the page.
It is highly recommended to read the authors instructions to get full use of this elegant extension.

An additional tool that goes well with this is the Highlighter extension for firefox.
Download and install is as usual for firefox. As of May 13, 2006 it was on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?app=firefox&cat=16&type=E&appfilter=1&perpage=10&left=370
Here's how it looks with the text highlighted:

Notice the highlighter icon in the top right corner. You can click the icon or just right-click "highlight" the selected text.
Save the page (File - Save page as...). You're done.

You may also want to try firefox extension Codetch. It works pretty well. This is my personal favorite. I downloaded version 0.3.6 from:
http://www.codetch.com/
It has a nice set of tools - highlighers, etc. Just click the icon "edit with codetch" and pick the lower tab "design". To preview, pick "preview" tab (this is really self-explanatory). Play with it. Here is a screenshot:

Another item to look at is Split Browser extension for firefox. Current version is 0.4.2007052102
Download and install is as usual for firefox. As of June 7, 2007 it was on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4287
Tested with Firefox version 2.0.0.4
Here's a screen shot with 2 panes open:

Panes are adjustable. There are more options available.
Here's a 3 pane screenshot:.

You can now read the bible and have the dictionary at hand for quick checks!

This also may be useful to some - Repagination extension for firefox. Current version is 2006.4.5
Download and install as usual for firefox. As of Dec 26, 2007 it was on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2099
Tested with Firefox version 2.0.0.11
What this little gem does is append pages to the bottom by right clicking "next" or "previous" links.
So, for example, let's say you're reading the bible by chapter (one chapter per page). You would like to load five chapters per page. Just right-click the "next" link at the bottom of the page, select Re-Pagination - Limited - 5.   Voilą!
There are additional functions for it as you will see.

Another good extension is - NextPlease. Current version is 0.6.6
Download and install as usual for firefox. As of Dec 26, 2007 it was on this page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/390
Tested with Firefox version 2.0.0.11
This extension places "next" and "previous" icons on your browser.
Now you don't have to hunt or scroll to the bottom of the page, but have direct access to page turns.

Here's a screen shot - note the clickable icons at top right:

The double arrows are for "first" and "last" page.
See the author's notes for more information.
It doesn't work with all sites, but it does with Verselink.org on the bible (Chapter) pages that I've tested (except for "first" and "last").
It's also very handy for Google search.

Another of my favorites is Mozilla Suite Composer. Composer is built into the Mozilla Suite, so there's nothing to download.
Just pick "File - Edit Page..." and you're there! The version I tried is 1.7.13 at:
http://www.mozilla.org/
It has a lovely set of tools and works quite nicely.
If I'm not mistaken, "Nvu" was spunoff from Composer. If you like Composer, but want more industrial strength, try Nvu (see below).
For those of you wondering about the differences between Mozilla and Firefox, Firefox is the browser only, whereas Mozilla includes the browser, email, chat, etc. I believe Firefox is largely the same code as Mozilla browser, with significant differences. I run both browsers. Here is a screenshot of Composer:

If you need a broader set of tools, check out Nvu at:
http://www.nvu.com/index.php

or KompoZer (derived from Nvu, but with more features) at:
http://www.kompozer.net/

So now you can consult a variety of commentaries and select the notes that make the best sense and paste it directly on the web page.

As always, you must exercise caution when downloading and installing ANYTHING on your computer. The links given on this page may or may NOT be safe. This is a discalimer to any problems that might arise downloading, installing or using these tools.
